The pattern on the porcelain is named after the ship "Götheborg" which sank on September 12, 1745 just 900 meters from its home port in Sweden. The ship had been gone 30 months on its trip to Canton, China to buy tea, silk, spices and china. Most of the cargo was salvaged before the ship sank completely.
